Alternative energy appears to be the wave of the future. With the high price of gas and increasing concerns as to how long the dwindling supply of fossil fuels will last, many people are turning to alternative energy as a viable option for meeting their energy needs. The cost of an alternative energy investment varies depending on which source of alternative energy is being used as well as the amount of energy one expects to get from the alternative energy source. For someone who is looking to power their entire home or office using only alternative energy then the initial alternative energy investment will be larger then the cost to simply supplement their current energy usage. Solar photovoltaic panels can be installed by trained professionals for an entire house for around $20,000. When using solar power as an alternative energy source, storage batteries must be purchased as well, as part of the alternative energy investment. These will help provide power to the home during inclement weather and during the night. Smaller, portable solar panels can also be purchased for a small alternative energy investment of around $700. These panels are great for powering computers, car batteries, and other small appliances. A home wind system can be purchased for an alternative energy investment of several thousand dollars. Wind systems are not suitable for all consumers. If a consumer has a river or stream running through their property a micro-hydroelectric energy system can be purchased for a modest alternative energy investment of less than $2000. There are also state and federal incentives available to many consumers as motivators to install alternative energy products.

Another way to promote alternative energy is to look for mutual funds and stocks to buy as an alternative energy investment. There are several ways to go about researching alternative energy investments. One method is to invest in a multi-tiered manner encompassing both large well grounded companies that have a well established growth market, such as nuclear and hydroelectric companies. These are excellent companies to add to a portfolio for a low risk alternative energy investment. Investing in small to large companies as well as companies that operate in newer technologies and research and Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s) are also good choices for an alternative energy investment. Experts also recommend investing in mutual finds and companies that specialize in renewable energy as well. Investing in alternative energy is an investment in the future of the planet. Alternative energy investment can not only be profitable on an individual level but also on a massive scale as a way to power the future of the planet.

Alternative energy is energy that is renewable and is obtained from the Sun, wind, waves, or other natural sources. This is in contrast to energy that is obtained by fossil fuels such as oil, gas, or coal that is not renewable. Alternative energy is a non-traditional method of obtaining energy that has a minimal impact on the Earths environment. Alternative energy is, by its very nature, economically easy on the environment and does not have a harmful effect on the planet.
Due to record high gas prices and increasing concerns about the health of the planet and the long term viability of fossil fuels, alternative energy has been thrust to the forefront of many peoples’ minds. Many companies and individuals are searching for effective ways to use alternative energy and decrease our dependence on foreign oil and fuel. There are many fears that the present supply of fossil fuels will not last, leading to a calamity of catastrophic proportions. Alternative energy is the key to becoming a more self-sufficient and independent as a nation, as well as the only way to ensure the safety of the planet and the long term health of its citizens.
There are many different sources of alternative energy that can be used very effectively. Geothermal energy produces energy from using the heat from beneath the Earths surface and collecting heat from the atmosphere or oceans. Most use a process called flash steam. Solar energy converts sunlight into energy using photovoltaic panels. There are many experts around the country that can install these panels to convert the sunlight into usable energy. Another renewable energy source for alternative energy is wind energy. Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the Earths surface by the Sun. Wind energy harnesses this energy by using wind turbines to convert wind power into a usable energy source. Wave power is another method of alternative energy that uses the oceans surface waves to generate electricity and also to desalinate water. Wave power can not be harnessed just anywhere but there are several places around the world that are excellent sources of wave power including Northern Canada, the coasts of western Scotland, southern Africa, Australia, and the northwest coast of the United States.
Alternative energy is widely available and has become very user friendly in recent years. It is a viable way for a person to become more self sufficient while doing their own part to minimize the pressure on the Earth as well as reduce the depletion of fossil fuels and eliminate our reliance upon foreign countries for our energy needs.

Traditional energy sources such as oil, coal and natural gas, derived from fossil fuels are used to meet the energy needs of most of the world. Due to the rising cost of gas and heating oil prices, concerns as to how long the supply of fossil fuels can last, and a strong desire to be more self sufficient and less dependent on fossil fuels, the global community has been focusing more and more on alternative energy sources. Technology used to harness the power of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind power, geothermal power and biomass has advanced considerably in recent years.

The energy crisis being experienced across the United States in regard to outrageously high gas and heating oil prices has led many people to look to alternative energy as a solution to their energy needs. There has also been a lot of concern over how using fossil fuels effects the planet in a negative way through pollution, greenhouse gases and carbon emissions. Many people want to do their part to help conserve energy and reduce the stress on the planet but don’t know how to go about it. Having relied solely on fossil fuels and traditional energy methods it can be daunting and unnerving to consider switching over to alternative sources of energy. The state and federal authorities have realized that the hesitation felt by many also may be as a result of the expense of getting started using alternative energy sources. A full home solar photovoltaic panel system will cost around $20,000. And while this system will eventually pay for itself in electricity savings, most people simply do not have the financial capacity to shell out that kind of money for such an endeavor. Fortunately there are alternative energy incentives offered by state and federal government agencies to encourage people to go green and utilize alternative energy resources. Alternative energy incentives for homeowners who install alternative energy products range from income tax incentives to property tax exemptions.

In 2005 The Energy Policy Act provided alternative energy incentives in the way of federal tax credits for anyone who purchased alternative energy products such as hybrid cars, wind turbines, and solar panels. In many towns across the country, such as Nashua New Hampshire, partial exemptions are given for property taxes when solar panels or wind energy systems are installed, offering up to $5000 exemptions for solar power. Contractors that install alternative energy devices and systems generally have a good idea as to which alternative energy incentives are available and what the alternative energy incentives may amount to in terms of dollars saved. Another way to find out what alternative energy incentives is to visit the National Association of State Energy Officials website for more information. Individual states local utility companies also are a good resource for discovering what alternative energy incentives are available. The high energy prices and concerns over foreign fuel sources recently prompt4ed South Carolina to pass alternative energy incentives that provides assistance to individuals and companies who wish to install alternative energy systems. State and Federal elected officials appear to be pushing for more and more alternative energy incentives to be put into place in direct correlation to the concern over the cost of fossil fuels and their desire to meet the needs of their constituents.

Alternative energy has made many inroads in popularity and usability in recent years, due to the rising cost of gasoline and heating fuels and concern over the depletion of fossil fuels. There is also a growing concern over the affect that fossil fuel usage has on the environment as a way of contributing to and increasing global warming, greenhouse gases and carbon emissions. Many people would also like to become more self sufficient and reduce dependency on foreign fuels. In order to do that an alternative source of energy must be utilized. To determine which alternative source of energy is best for any particular individual or organization one must do research to better understand how the alternative source of energy can be made to fit into an individual lifestyle. There are many choices to consider when looking at al alternative source of energy but it need not be overwhelming or difficult to choose the right option. There are also many qualified and experienced professionals available to help with installation of an alternative source of energy as well.

Solar energy is one of the most well recognized alternative source of energy. Solar energy harnesses the power of the sun through the use of photovoltaic panels that store and energy and convert it into a usable form. Solar panels can be purchased as small portable units for several hundred dollars which can be used for small appliances, computers, or to keep car batteries charges. A person could also have their entire household fitted with photovoltaic panels which have the capacity to store enough power to run the meet all of that households needs. This kind of a set-up costs around $20,000. There are currently around 10,000 houses in the United States that are using only solar systems as an alternative source of energy to supply all of their energy needs. Solar energy works best for those who have south facing roofs with lots of exposure and limited shade.

Wind energy is the most widely used alternative source of energy. People have been harnessing the power of the wind for centuries. The modern wind turbines in use today are for more technologically advanced than those used in years past. Wind energy also does not produce any pollution and requires very little maintenance and upkeep. The triple bladed windmills have few moving parts and therefore are very easy to keep running. Wind energy is best for those who live in windy climates. Batteries can be purchased to store additional energy for calm days.

Biotechnology has also provided a way to use biomass, organic materials made from plants and animal residues and wastes. Biomass is used to create biofuels such as ethanol, methane, biodiesel and biocrude. Biofuels can be used as alternatives to fossil fuels such as gasoline and petroleum by anyone interested in an alternative source of energy.

Alternative energy is energy that is renewable and is obtained from sources such as the Sun, wind, waves and other naturally occurring sources. With the present energy crisis, alternative energy seems to be the wave of the future. Due to the rising cost of gasoline and heating fuels, and growing concerns as to how much longer our dwindling supply of fossil fuels will last, many people are looking into alternative sources of energy to meet their needs. Fortunately there are several different alternative sources of energy available to consumers for their consideration.

Solar energy is one of the most recognizable and readily available alternative sources of energy. The sun provides the heat and light necessary for all things to survive on Earth. Our earth only receives about 51% of the suns rays, with the remaining amount being absorbed by the clouds or bounced back into the atmosphere. Solar energy converts the power of the sun’s rays into electricity by using photovoltaic cells. These cells can be mounted on rooftops to take the most advantage of the suns direct power. Solar energy does not produce any pollution and uses storage batteries for use during inclement weather or at night time. Another one of the excellent alternative sources of energy is wind power. People have been using wind power to generate energy for centuries. The technology has advanced considerably in recent years and wind power is a very viable way to generate energy. In this most commonly used of the alternative sources of energy triple bladed wind mills harness the power of the wind converting it into usable energy.

There are also several ways to use water as alternative sources of energy. Hydroelectric uses the flow and motion of water to turn turbines that generate electricity. There is an abundant supply of water to use this type of alternative energy method. To be able to supply a large town or city with power using hydroelectric methods a dam would need to be constructed to control the water flow. For those who have a river or stream running through their property a micro-hydro energy system can be purchased to supply an unlimited amount of energy. Wave power is another of the alternative sources of energy that uses the oceans surface waves to generate electricity and also to desalinate sea water. Additional alternative sources of energy include geothermal power which produces energy by using heat from beneath the Earths surface or collects heat from the atmosphere or ocean and converts it in to usable power. With all of the different alternative sources of energy available it is now easier than ever before to be more self sufficient and energy conscious and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and foreign oils.

Alternative energy is defined as energy that comes from a natural source such as the sun, wind or water, and is renewable and eco friendly. Alternative energy has recently received an influx of interest and appeal due to the rising costs of gasoline and oil. Environmental concerns have arisen in regards to the use of fossil fuels including pollution, green house gases, and carbon emissions. Alternative energy companies are springing up all across the globe with focuses not only on marketing alternative energy sources, but also on developing new technologies to use the resources that are available. With all of the interest in alternative energy, which is not expected to decline in the near future, now is a great time to think about investing in an alternative energy fund.

When looking for an alternative energy fund, there are several places to go and many opinions on what the best course of action is. Across the board the most stable alternative energy fund appears to be found in EFTs which are exchange traded funds. Investors are advised to look for a company that operates in newer technology and research.

There is also a wide array of independent alternative energy fund availability if going with an exchange traded fund is not of interest. Alternative energy fund purchasing can be done through such companies as Guinness Atkinson Funds, Firsthand Alternative Energy Funds, Calvert Global Alternative Energy Funds, and New Alternatives Fund. These companies focus on investing in listed companies that have a positive effect on the environment in a socially responsible way. They also will avoid investing in any companies that contribute to the pollution problems and harm the environment. An alternative energy fund will invest in solar power, wind power, fuel cells, ocean energy, hydro power, energy conservation, hydrogen, biomass, geothermal, and natural gas when it is used in the cleanest possible way utilizing modern turbines and fuel cells.

Technology for alternative energy sources has progressed a lot in recent years and as a result hydro, wind, biomass, and geothermal powers are more economically viable. Solar energy, which has a huge potential, should be more economically viable in the next few years. With all of the advancement in technology and the ever widening use of alternative energy sources, it is a great time to invest in an alternative energy fund. The alternative energy explosion does not show any sign of slowing down and is projected to continue in growth of the course of the next few years due to rising energy costs, and environmental issues facing the world. An alternative energy fund is not only a personal investment, but also an investment in the continual production and improvement of alternative energy.
