When it comes to recognizable corporate names, it’s hard to top General Electric. Known for everything from its ownership of a major television network to its creation of small electronic devices, this company is a household name the world over. One area of its operations might not be as well known as some of the others. GE wind energy is, however, one of the leaders in this alternative energy industry.
GE wind energy products have been available for more than 20 years. The company, in fact, specializes in the creation of wind turbines for the collection of kinetic energy. To date, it has more than 8,400 working turbine installations found throughout the world.
GE wind energy is known as a pioneer of technology in the field. Its products are noted for:
• Durability – GE’s wind turbines are designed for longevity. They are noted for reliable performance that offers variable speed control and independent blade pitch.
• Grid support – GE wind energy creates turbines that are meant to provide cost-effective operation for grid support. The company’s WindVAR electronics helps improve transmission efficiency and enables turbines to remain online and supply reactive power to the grid through disturbances in the system.
• International operations – To supply clients all over the world, GE wind energy has operations located in countries all over the globe. Some of its factories are found in the United States, Germany, Canada, China and Spain.
• High capacity turbines – GE wind energy creates turbines that are designed for high capacity systems. It offers a 1.5 MW system, a 2.5 MW system and a 3.6 MW system. GE’s 1.5 series, in fact, is considered one of the most widely used turbines of its classification in the entire world. It has more than 5,000 units in operation at present.
GE’s involvement in wind energy is something that many people don’t realize, but it does show a few important things about this technology. The fact that this major player has taken a serious interest in alternative energy shows that it is:
• Viable – GE lends itself to a growing list of corporate names that put an emphasis on greener technologies. The viability of wind turbine technology is clear or major players would not be involved in production.
• Of continued interest – GE’s longevity in this field shows that wind energy is not a fleeting fancy. With more than two decades in, GE’s history shows that turbine power has been of interest on the global market and continues to be so.
GE wind energy products are found the world over. As this technology gains even more interest, it is likely GE will continue to help lead the charge.

Only a few years ago it seemed like the concept of wind power was a bit of a fairy tale. While it had been proven that wind energy could be beneficial for use, its widespread application didn’t seem feasible. Today, however, all of that has changed. Thanks to a better understanding of the advantages of wind energy, its use and production is on the rise in a very big way.
The advantages of wind energy are known and put into practice in countries all over the world. From India and China to America and Denmark, the power of the wind is used to heat and cool homes, keep lights running and more. The increase in wind energy use has been prevalent in the last few years. In America, for example, the capacity for production of wind power grew by 45 percent in the year 2007 alone. European countries, such as Spain and Germany, rely on wind power to augment to their electrical grids to the tune of a few percent of total power production. Denmark, however, boasts the highest use at 20 percent of its total electrical production.
So, how are the advantages of wind energy fueling the increased movement toward this form of alternative power? A careful examination of the benefits of wind’s use will make this clear. The pros of using wind power include:
• Cost effectiveness – As fossil fuels continue to be more costly, many power producers are looking for viable alternatives. Of all of the choices out there, wind power is the most economical of the renewable energy sources. This is good news for power companies that need to boost their capacity and want to do so in a greener, yet efficient way.
• The green factor – This is one of the biggest advantages of wind energy. The reality is that wind is a renewable resource. It does not go away – at least for long. Plus, it is a clean source of energy. Wind power does not release emissions into the atmosphere. It does not produce greenhouse gases. And, it doesn’t leave a negative footprint behind.
• The capacity – Although it does take fairly sizeable wind farms to produce energy for the power grid, the reality is the capacity turbines can produce is rather impressive. In America, for example, one percent of the total energy production today now comes from wind power.
The advantages of wind energy are making this alternative power source stand out from the pack. This cleaner, cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels has been making big headway in recent years for very good reasons.

Wind energy is a power that humans have long tapped into. The first known reference of people using the power of the wind to accomplish tasks, in fact, dates back to the 1st century AD. Today, however, this is an underrated alternative source of power that actually supplies a great deal more homes the world over than many people realize.
On the worldwide scale, the production of wind energy is a drop in the bucket in comparison to fossil fuel and nuclear driven electrical power. The worldwide rate, as of 2007, was 1 percent for wind energy. Still, this equates to a much greater capacity than it would seem on the surface. Wind power, for example, is responsible for producing a whopping 19 percent of Denmark’s electricity. It is also widely used in Spain, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere in Europe. Production of wind power has risen dramatically in the 2007. Estimates put the rise at five times the 2000 rate by 2007.
So, what is wind energy exactly and what are the benefits of using it over other sources of electricity?
Wind power, much like solar energy, comes from a highly renewable, natural source. Unlike fossil fuels, wind electricity, is not in limited supply. This type of energy is generally harvested using specialized turbines that are placed in configurations to make wind farms. The individual turbines themselves are created to transform the wind’s kinetic energy into usable electrical current.
The benefits of using wind energy are quite extensive. Although this source of alternative fuel does have some limitations, the perks of going with wind rather than fossil fuels include:
• Its abundance – Winds blow the world over throughout the year. Although it’s true that some areas receive a great deal more wind than others, this source of energy is fully renewable and fairly constant.
• It is cleaner – Burning fossil fuels to create usable electricity can be rather dirty business – especially for the environment. When winds turn turbine fans and produce energy within a generator, the entire process has little to no impact on the environment.
• It is fairly efficient in low capacities – Wind energy can be used on small-scale farms to completely or almost completely remove the need for a home to be hooked into an electrical grid. Large scale farms, such as those found in Europe, can make a big impact in offsetting the use of fossil fuel electricity.
Wind energy is not a new concept by any means. Still, the power of the wind is really gaining footing as of late. This alternative source of power is already offsetting the use of nonrenewable forms of power in many locations around the world and its use is on the rise.

As scientists, politicians and average Joe citizens explore the potential for alternative forms of energy that are greener and cheaper, there are already some viable options available. Wind power is one such possibility. Although there are some kinks that remain in its use, the benefits of wind energy production cannot be discounted.
A movement toward the use of wind energy has been ongoing for several decades. Already, there are many countries in the world that rely rather heavily on wind energy for their electrical production. Denmark, for example, supplies about 20 percent of its power thanks to the wind. The worldwide figure, however, is much lower. Roughly 1 percent of all energy produced in the world comes from the wind.
With concerns about the viability of continued use of fossil fuels high and the costs associated with its use climbing, the benefits of wind energy are becoming more widely known. This alternative energy source is favored by some because it:
• Is fully renewable – Unlike fossil fuels that have a finite supply, wind energy is finite. While it’s true that wind energy supplies can come and go based on weather patterns, seasons and so forth, the overall renewable side of production is one of the benefits of wind energy production that make it very attractive. Wind energy simply cannot be depleted like oil can.
• It is cleaner – Fossil fuel-based energy production can have devastating environmental impacts. The same is not so of wind production. Of all the benefits of wind energy production, this is the one that environmentalists seem to appreciate the most. The fact is creating wind energy does not leave a big footprint on the environment, nor are there risks of hazardous spills, release of greenhouse gases and other similar perils attached to its use.
• It can be cost-effective – Harvesting the wind does require a pretty big investment initially. When proper turbine installations are put into use, however, the costs can be recovered over time. Even home-based wind collectors can make a big difference in overall outgoing expenses. As the price of fossil fuels continues to skyrocket, the benefit of wind energy is becoming even clearer.
• Reduced hazards – Production of fossil fuel and nuclear power can pose rather large safety hazards. A reduction of these is another one of the many benefits of wind energy production.
The benefits of wind energy are rather extensive. Although it is difficult to fully replace the use of other sources of energy with the wind alone, this type of energy can, as Denmark stands testament to, greatly reduce reliance upon them.

Wind energy systems are the driving force behind this growing source of power. As they become more affordable and attainable for both power companies and individuals, the worldwide use of wind power is on the rise. The basic classifications of systems available for industrial and personal use tend to run the gamut in regard to pricing and capacity.
The types of wind energy systems that are commonly in use today include:
• Industrial grade turbines – These wind energy systems are designed for use in wind farm installations. In most cases, this system type is reserved for use by commercial electrical companies. The spread of wind turbine units of industrial size and capacity is on the rise. In the year 2007 alone, the United States, for example, increased its production of wind energy by some 45 percent. This source of power is now responsible for more than 20 percent of Denmark’s energy.
• Home use, off grid systems – Wind energy systems for home use are generally seen in use in remote locations. Depending on the type of system in use, it is possible for a homeowner to remain completely off the electrical grid. While there might be some ups and downs in regard to productivity, wind power is a viable option here as long as the wind capacity is high and there is space available for turbines to operate efficiently.
• Home use, on grid systems – These wind energy systems are designed to keep a home’s tie into the electrical grid active. The advantage of this can be rather impressive. When this type of system is used, the wind turbine will power a home to the maximum of its capacity. If it cannot handle the full load, the regular electrical system will supply power. If, however, the turbine produces more energy than is needed by a home, it is possible for the energy to be sold to a power company. This means owners of this type of system can actually make money off the prospect.
• Hybrid systems – Some wind energy systems are designed to cover a few bases at once. For example, hybrid wind and solar systems are available. What this type of system does is create energy from both the wind and the sun’s heat. This is a viable option in many locations, but can prove especially beneficial in remote, off grid locations.
Wind energy systems are becoming rather common in countries all over the world. With thousands of installations found from Europe and North America to Asia, it is clear that this form of alternative energy is being taken seriously on the global scene.

As worldwide consumption of wind power takes off, wind energy company growth is being seen the world over. The importance of this particular factor in regard to the viability and future of this renewable energy resource is quite great. As more companies continue to expand operations, the availability of this type of power becomes more widespread.
Wind energy company growth is being seen in the sales of turbines the world over. The United States alone increased its capacity for wind harvesting by a whopping 45 percent in the year 2007. Other countries around the world are also getting into wind production, which is helping lead to wind energy company growth.
When it comes to worldwide leaders in this technology, General Electric is still the company to beat. It is estimated this company held almost a 50 percent share of sales in the year 2007. This particular year was very important to the industry as a whole. Estimates show at least 14 different announcements for increase in production facilities within the industry as a whole.
So, why is wind energy company growth so important? There are a number of reasons why this is good news both in and outside the industry. The benefits of growth in this sector include:
• Increased competition – With each wind energy company that grows, competition in this field grows along with it. This can lead to ripple effects in the industry that will benefit consumers and power companies alike.
• Better development – As the profitability of wind energy production continues to rise and individual wind energy companies grow, the focus remains high on research and development. Thanks to growing competition and interest in the field, companies are paying a great deal of attention to improving on the technology behind wind energy production.
• Better pricing – Wind energy is already the cheapest source of alternative power production. As more companies expand and grow, however, and competition rises, the price involved in harvesting is likely to go down.
• More availability – Wind energy company growth is giving rise to a greater availability of wind turbines for industrial and residential use. This is very good news for those who want to tap into the power of the wind, but who want a selection of turbine models to choose from.
Wind energy company growth in recent years shows that this industry is alive, well and receiving a lot of attention as of late. As interest in alternative energies grows, wind is capturing a big portion of the market share. This is evident in the growth in the sector.

As basic electric costs continue to climb, many people are seeking out ways to cut their expenses and consumption. Others, however, are exploring the potential of producing their own electricity to offset their reliance on the grid. For these people, home wind energy can provide a solution.
Home wind energy involves the use of specialized devices to harvest wind power and turn it into usable electrical current. There are a few options of devices available that help homeowners augment their use of grid-based, fossil fuel-driven electrical power. They include:
• Turbine systems – This option for home wind energy uses a wind turbine to harvest wind’s kinetic energy power. This energy turns the blades on a special fan that then spins a shaft. This shaft is connected to an electrical generator that gains power from the shaft’s spinning. The end result is power produced by the generator that a homeowner can use.
• Hybrid systems – There are some hybrid systems that homeowners can take advantage of. These often include the use of both wind and solar systems to produce energy for home consumption. These systems can be particularly useful for taking advantage of two renewable sources of power. They are considered ideal in remote areas and can help take a home completely off an electrical grid.
Home wind energy does bring with it many advantages. Unfortunately, it is still often necessary in areas where it is possible to tap into the electrical grid to make sure power needs are fully met. The fact is that wind power might not always be prevalent enough to power a home 365 days a year. Still, the advantages of even offsetting electrical use are many. They include:
• Environmental impacts – Using home wind energy reduces negative environmental impacts. Rather than rely solely on fossil fuels, homeowners with their own turbines can reduce their use of damaging and nonrenewable energy sources.
• Financial savings – While it’s true installing a wind turbine to provide home wind energy will cost a pretty penny, this type of system can pay for itself over time. How much or how little savings a homeowner will realize will depend on the capacity of the turbine and its overall offset of standard electrical use.
• Potential moneymaking ability – In some areas, it is feasible for homeowners who use home wind energy systems to tap into the electrical grid in a reverse manner. In times when electricity is needed from the grid, it will be provided. When a home wind system produces more power than a home requires, that energy will flow to the electric company and result in a financial gain for the homeowner.
Home wind energy provides a way for property owners to be more self-sufficient. It also enables them to cut their financial costs related to electrical consumption. In the process, using wind power can reduce environmental impacts. For these reasons, many people are looking into using wind power to take some of the strain off the regular electrical grid.

As people all over the world feel the pinch of a new energy crisis, many electric companies and private individuals are seeking out alternatives. Wind energy companies are trying to provide it for them.
Wind energy companies specialize in harvesting the wind’s kinetic energy and transforming it into usable electric. This is completed generally through a process that uses wind turbines to capture the energy. These turbines look like large fans. The wind turns the turbine’s fans, which then turn a shaft. This shaft provides power to a generator that can be used to power homes directly or just feed the electrical grid. Wind power has not replaced other options by a long shot, but it is gaining in popularity and feasibility mostly thanks to the diligence in research and development of wind energy companies.
Wind energy companies range rather greatly in their focus. Although their prime mission is to provide wind energy to people, who they go about it can differ. Some of the different types of companies now operating include:
• Large, commercial size companies – This type of company is generally geared toward helping electric companies add to their capacity through the use of wind power. They specialize in planning, consulting, developing, research and more. Their main focus lies in creating large-scale wind farms for the collection of kinetic energy. These companies sometimes manufacturer industrial-sized turbines, create computer programs to drive their operation and more.
• Smaller firms – Wind energy companies are not only available to help the big guys. There are some that specialize in the creation of smaller wind turbines for individual home or property use. Here and again, wind energy companies in this classification also design, plan and consult. In addition, they might manufacture the materials needed to create viable wind energy collectors.
Wind energy companies also tend to have a great deal of interest in:
• Educating the public – One of the challenges that wind energy companies face involves educating the masses about the potential this energy source offers. Inasmuch, they are often very vocal advocates for education about wind power and its effectiveness.
• Research and development – Wind energy companies have managed to provide about 1 percent of the world’s electricity. Modern turbines are rather efficient devices, but there is always room for improvement. Inasmuch, wind energy companies also work to develop new technologies that make harvesting wind power even more efficient and effective.
Wind energy companies are found in locations all over the world. These firms work to bring wind power to the masses either through large-scale projects or one home at a time.

Wind energy stock might not be the fastest mover on the market today, but it’s certainly becoming of interest to some investors who want to support the research, development and production of this alternative form of energy. With wind power consumption up fivefold since 2007, the viability of this type of power at least to augment electrical grids is no longer in question.
Investors who want to support the growth of this type of power consumption will find there are a number of alternatives when it comes to wind energy stock. The type of companies that stock buyers are looking at include:
• European companies – There are a number of wind energy stock buys available throughout Europe. These companies range from those that produce turnkey operations to those that work with large scale wind farmers to produce a tremendous amount of electricity. With countries such as Denmark leaning heavily on wind power for their electrical grids, interest here is high.
• American-based companies – The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ both have a number of wind energy stock companies in their fields. These American companies specialize in everything from creating wind/solar systems that are hybrid designs to producing large-scale turbines for harvesting wind energy.
Although wind energy stock buys still face some challenges in regard to widespread use of wind power, the stars of these companies are beginning to rise. As wind power now accounts for 1 percent of the world’s energy production, this technology is of great interest as of late.
The benefits of using wind power are becoming widely known. They include:
• Providing an offset for the consumption of fossil fuel driven power – Wind power systems are capable of augmenting electrical grids and they do so in many areas around the world. They are also capable of helping take a home completely or almost completely off the electrical grid. Every kilowatt hour of wind energy that is produced helps conserve fossil fuels.
• Limiting electricity’s environmental impacts – Just like solar power, wind power is a cleaner source of energy. The production of wind power does not release greenhouse gasses, which can damage the environment.
• Reducing homeowners’ costs – Although wind power might not be able to completely reduce a home’s use of standard electricity, it can offset it. When this happens, homeowners can realize a very big savings in their costs. Considering the recent increases in electricity prices, many are finding wind power and even solar quite intriguing. This can result in big rewards for wind energy stock investors down the road.
There are no guarantees when it comes to wind energy stock purchases. Still, many are finding this type of purchase very interesting as more consumers look for alternatives to costly fossil fuel produced electricity.
